I take a lot of photos. These days, far more photos than videos. So here's January through June of my favorites of what I shot this year. (Part two currently in production).

A video about a picture I took... Really, there's nothing to it, but to it looks like an eye mysteriously floating in this picture. Not just the eye, but a bit of flesh around it. I'm sure there's a logical explanation, not necessarily paranormal. And, of course, it's hard to see once edited into a video. But here it is. Whatever.
And the photo itself:

Three years ago, I shot a video up in Portland with my old friend, JD Chandler, touring the sites of some of the area's more gruesome murders (video here). Since then, he's published two books of these stories through History Press and is now finishing up the the third book in the series. Well, a few weeks ago, I was up in Portland again, and captured this bit of video of him talking about what to expect in the next installment:

What happens when I re-string my Telecaster in the same week I download the newest version of GarageBand? I wind up with a sloppy cover of a classic blues tune and the desire to make a quick, out-of-sync video of the whole mess. With apologies to Big Bill Broonzy, I'm gonna leave here running, 'cause walking is much too slow.

Yesterday marked one year since my last posted vlog (not last video, or last vlog recorded, just the last posted vlog). So I tried it again. I recorded a 10 minute rambling story-rant, with starts and stops, and blank stares at the camera. I loaded it into iMovie to see what could be salvaged. Nothing. So I picked up the MacBook, turned the camera back on, and just started talking about why I wasn't posting what I'd just recorded. One four-minute take later, and I'm back to vlogging.

I spent a chunk of yesterday hanging out at the Macworld/iWorld Expo at Moscone Center in San Francisco, getting an eyeful of what's new for iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, and all that stuff. Coincidentally, I also brought along my iPhone and shot this bit of video... (for more of my Mac history, check this blog post).

This interview with my father, discussing his career in the record business (1950-1992) was actually shot back in 2009. I shared it privately, with family, earlier, after his passing in 2012. I have finally decided to share it publicly now.
