Aviation Porn

So, Phil Davis (aka FantasticBabblings) posted a couple of videos shot in-flight and labeled them "aviation porn." I laughed, but then I watched, and I thought about it. I've always enjoyed flying, and watching the world below, cities coming into view, a new perspective on the landscape.

And when you can enjoy that without the sweaty guy next to you hogging the armrest, or spending an hour in line to have your privacy invaded by government agents, it's kind of nice! So, here's my contribution to the aviation porn genre: Flight 1541 from Burbank to San Jose on a Sunday evening:

Memory Walk 2013

This past Saturday I participated in "Memory Walk 2013" to benefit the Santa Cruz County chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The walk takes place at Seascape Resort in Aptos, and takes a path along a cliff, and down onto the beach. This was my second year participating. Last year, it was in support of my father, who suffered from Alzheimer's. He passed last December, so this year was in his memory. Donations for the walk will be accepted through November.

A Vlog for Gene

Gene Wolden, known as GeezerArt, was one of the original YouTube vloggers from the class of 2006. He was also a wonderful artist and a great and funny man. Gene passed away on Easter Sunday after battling cancer for several months and having a stroke, but was home with his wife, Freida, at the end. He will be missed.
